Kodable is a fun app geared towards a very young age group. The app offers fun lessons on basic movement of an object. Lessons within the app use a similar coding system of scratch. Meaning actual code language is not used, but rather arrows, and English words.
Kodable is a great app to introduce young kids to code. It will prepare them for harder things like scratch in the future. There are multiple levels in the app, so the difficulty does increase. And I would assume this type of content would be good for grades 1-2 maybe 3.
The app also offers a teacher mode.
The app offers a simple profile creator, and coding engine. All you have to do is drag and drop arrows. At least in the early levels. However, as the levels increase, it gets more difficult.
By dropping the arrows, you control the direction of the sprite. The goal is to collect all to token available in the level, then exit accordingly off the track. Other things, like multi color blocks, add a new level of difficulty. For the sprite to pass a purple block for example, you must drag and drop a purple block along with an arrow in the according location.
