How to Use Google Sites Templates

by Chad Leasure

As a part of the Google Apps for Education suite, Cape Elizabeth teachers have the ability to access Google Sites as a means to create and edit websites. Unfortunately, Google Sites is a difficult platform to use. It is a struggle to design a site with all the restrictions it has. This post is a tutorial on how to design you Google site and get your site looking the way you would like it to look.

1. Go to Google Sites. You can get here by searching Google Sites or by clicking on the 3×3 grid in the upper right hand corner of a Google Apps for Education page and then clicking on Sites.

2. Once you are on Google Sites, go to Create. Once you click on Create it should bring you to a page that looks like this:

3. Once you are on this page, choose a template. You can choose one that is blank or an already created template for your site. You can also choose a theme that you like.

4. If you wish to choose an already created template, click on Browse the gallery for more. Once you click on that option you will see many templates to choose from to make your Site attractive.
